Who wants affordable energy? That’s safe, renewable, and much cleaner than fossil fuels? Chances are, unless you own an oil company or gas station, you’re among those who find such a concept extremely appealing.
So did the people who founded Econoburn Wood-Fueled Boilers division in 2005 with the aid of the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA). Since then, the company has been dedicated to realizing its vision of finding a better way to heat America’s homes and commercial buildings.
No one shared that vision more than Frank Saeli. So when he took over as President in 2011, he began utilizing his more than 30 years of experience in the manufacture of industrial products to make it a reality. Frank’s contributions went beyond planning and guidance; in a short period, he made several innovative modifications that increased boiler efficiency and longevity.
“The most noteworthy of his technological contributions resulted in the unique two-stage ‘gasification’ process at the heart of the Econoburn wood-fueled boiler,” states Dale Furman, Technical Engineer at Econoburn Wood-Fueled Boilers. “Essentially, this is what enables our boilers to deliver an 87% thermal efficiency rating. Unlike our ‘open’ counterparts, Econoburn pressurized, indoor-certified boilers feature downdraft, forced induction into a secondary combustion chamber. This allows for greater heat generation and retention, resulting in cleaner, less expensive energy with far less dependence on fossil fuels.”
Saeli also went to work enhancing other areas of the business. His hands-on approach to leadership was quickly felt at every level of the company, and beyond. He began meeting personally with managers and supervisors, as well as all of Econoburn’s key distributors to help them generate more business. At the same time, he employed a new, synchronized approach to the company’s Internet and social media efforts to better inform the American public of all Econoburn wood-fueled boilers have to offer.
While all this was being done, Econoburn’s president was also busy in another area he deemed critically important. “Frank believed we had to completely separate Econoburn products from the outdated, inefficient ‘open’ backyard models Americans have historically associated with wood burners,” explains Mark Odell, Econoburn’s Vice President of Marketing & Sales. “We needed to make a sharp differentiation so people understood this isn’t ‘your Dad’s wood-burning stove’.
“That’s what we’ve been doing since he took over,” he continues; “informing Americans that our wood-fueled boilers represent advanced, state-of-the-art technology. That they have a life-span as much as three times greater than ‘open’ systems. And, most importantly, that they offer a great source of renewable energy, capable of generating the home and commercial heating our country needs at far lower cost to consumers and the environment.”
So how successful have Frank’s efforts been? To be honest, pretty successful. During his tenure, awareness and popularity of Econoburn wood-fueled boilers have earned them recognition as the best-built, most efficient boilers made in North America. Equally impressive, sales have increased dramatically under Saeli’s stewardship, with orders now coming in from the Monterey, CA to Montauk Point on Long Island.
Which leads to the fruits of success and, most important to readers like yourself, what they mean to you? We’re glad you asked…
In addition to energy savings and independence, Econoburn is going a step further by giving back to the people who made our success possible.
